Lesson Plan

Competence Standard:

3. Holding a communiacation in English in Intermediate Level

Basic Competence:

3.2 Understanding limited conversation with native speaker

Indicator:

a)      Using expressions of making a wish or unreal condition in the future, present or past (conditional sentences and subjunctive wish) correctly

A. Learning Objective:

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to be able to:

  1. Understand and use conditional sentences and subjunctive wish correctly

B. Materials:

Expressions

Conditional sentences

Subjunctive wish

(listed on the appendices)

C. Teaching-Learning Method:

EGRA (Exposure, Generalization, Reinforcement, Application)

D. Teaching-Learning Steps:

First Meeting

  1. 1. Preface (10 minutes)

Exposure / Exploration

Teacher gives Leading Questions to the students containing the material will be given as follow:

  1. Picture show
  2. Brain storming
  3. Key word
  1. 1. Main Activity / Elaboration (70 minutes)

Generalization

  1. Teacher asks the students to make a group of 4/5.
  2. Teacher gives them a text, questions or quiz that direct them to find the function and the form/pattern of conditional sentences Type 1.
  3. Teacher asks them in group to discuss the answers.
  4. Directed by teacher, the students discuss the answers.
  5. Teacher writes the students’ answers on the whiteboard.
  6. Teacher gives a salutation to the students for their well work.
  7. Teacher demonstrates how to pronounce the words written on the whiteboard.

Reinforcement

  1. Teacher explains the answers written on the whiteboard.
  2. Teacher elaborates the function and the form of conditional sentences Type 1.
  3. Teacher gives some examples.
  4. Teacher holds a drill and repetition for the pronunciation of the words correctly.
  5. Teacher reinforces the students by giving some tasks/quizzes to be discussed in pair.
  6. Classically, teacher leads them to discuss their answers.

Closing (10 minutes)

Application / Confirmation

  1. Teacher asks the students to work individually.
  2. Teacher gives them a task to solve some cases related to the use of conditional sentences Type 1
  3. Individually, the students respond the cases
  4. Teacher asks the students to write some questions by using conditional sentences Type 1.

Second Meeting
